This selection of four films sheds light on the contemporary crop of Brazilian documentaries, in which music has been a favourite subject.  One portrays the grand dame Maria Bethânia on the occasion of her 60th birthday, and three docs cover the late-’60s scene—especially the Tropicalia movement, with some of its principal leaders, as seen in popular music festivals captured live on TV. This series is part of the Vancity Theatre’s Music Mondays series and will bring summer inside during the hot days of July.
